Sheet ST-100 · St. Thomas, Ontario

Concrete in the Railway City

Driveways, walkways, pads, and pool decks for St. Thomas and Elgin County.

St. Thomas mixes century homes near the Talbot corridor with postwar streets and brand new subdivisions, and every one of those driveways takes the same salt, plow, freeze, and thaw. We build for that, twenty minutes from our home base in London, with the same crew and the same spec on every pour.

The Spec

Same crew, same spec, London or St. Thomas.

Spec 01 · What we build in St. Thomas

The whole approach to the house, from one crew.

ST-101

Concrete Driveways

Poured, broom-finished or decorative, built from the base up. Excavation, compacted granular, air-entrained concrete, and joints planned before the truck arrives.

ST-102

Walkways, Steps + Porches

Front walks and entries for the century homes off Talbot Street and the newer builds alike. Small pours that carry the whole first impression of a house.

ST-103

Pads + Flatwork

Garage and shed pads, patios, and equipment pads. Same preparation discipline as a driveway on a smaller footprint.

ST-104

Pool Decks + Liners

Pool surrounds, coping, and vinyl liner replacement from one crew. If the deck cracked or the liner is tired, both get fixed in one booking instead of two contractors pointing at each other.

ST-105

Repairs + Replacement

Heaved, scaling, or cracked concrete removed and repoured properly. We say honestly when a surface has years left and when replacement is the only fix worth paying for.

ST-106

Grading + Drainage

Surfaces sloped away from the foundation and bases set to drain, so spring melt runs off instead of heaving what you just paid for.

Spec 02 · Before + after

Drag the line. That is the whole pitch.

A cracked, heaved surface out, a properly based and jointed one in. The work shown here is the same driveway package we bring to St. Thomas: excavation, compacted base, air-entrained concrete, and drainage that sends water away from the house.

Spec 03 · St. Thomas questions

Asked before every quote.

Do you really work in St. Thomas, or is it a long-distance call-out?

St. Thomas is part of our regular working area, roughly twenty minutes down the road from London. Site visits and quotes are free, and the visit is where we measure, check grades, and give you a written number that does not move.

Do I need a permit for a driveway in St. Thomas?

St. Thomas sets its own rules for driveways, curb cuts, and anything that touches the municipal boulevard, and they are not the same as London's. Replacing a surface like for like is usually the simple case. Widening, a new entrance, or boulevard work can need City approval, so we confirm what applies to your property with the City of St. Thomas before we quote that kind of work.

What kind of concrete survives an Elgin County winter?

The same freeze and thaw that works on London driveways works here. Exterior concrete should be 32 MPa, air entrained, the CSA exposure class made for freezing plus road salt, placed over a compacted granular base with drainage that moves water away from the slab. The mix matters, and what is underneath it matters more.

When is the best time to book?

The pour season runs roughly May through October. The spring calendar fills first, so winter and early spring are the best time to get a written quote and hold a date. Liner and pool deck work follows the same rhythm: booked over the off-season, done before opening.
